  • Features
    • PACWELD 26 will repair most types of cast iron encountered in the maintenance industry.
1 Has same co-efficient of expansion and contraction of cast iron.
2 Includes silicon for easy flowing.
      3 Machineable without porosity.
4 Good colour match to cast iron.
6 Will rust as does cast iron.
7 Always turn off the gas supply to the hoses and regulator when the equipment is not being used.
8 Corrosion resistance equal to cast iron.
  • Typical Application
    • 1 Building up worn areas - particularly on oil impregnated castings especially manifolds and gear boxes.
2 On pump housing where the eroding effect of the fluid causes grooving, the use of PACWELD 26 can replace the slower spray powders in rebuilding worn areas.
3 With precision welding where repairing edges and thin sections is required the combination of PACWELD 26 and TIG is ideal.
4 Ideal for welding mild or low alloyed steels to cast iron - particularly where jacket welding is required to replace missing sections.
  • Welding Procedure
    • 1 Prepare cracks by grinding or by gouging with PACWELD 800. If a crack and not a break occured, drill a hole at each end of the crack and take the preparation to the hole - this will prevent propagation of the crack.
2 Preheat using a highly oxidising flame around the weld area and then wire brush - repeat this until excess of graphite or carbon is removed.
3 Set flame to neutral and bring base metal to red hot until it 'sweats' using plenty of PACWELD 26 Flux to assist flow.
4 Melt a small amount of PACWELD 26 off onto job and flow in with the torch, continue this until repair is complete.
5 Cool slowly in lime or with a blanket (keep out of draughts).
6 However, in most cases post weld stress relieving should be done.
7 When repair is with TIG use DC - EP (Electrode Negative) and argon gas as the shielding gas.
      8 Cool slowly.

  • Features
    • PACWELD 213 is a machineable high strength electrode for welding cast iron or cast iron to steel.
1 Joining and repairing most types of cast iron.
2 Welding of highly restrained or thick walled pieces.
3 Heterogeneous (different kind) joints between cast iron and carbon steel.
4 Excellent wetting action on most cast iron qualities.
  • Typical Application
    • 1 Repairing and joining of grey and nodular.
2 Welding of heavy cast iron sections.
3 Welding of cast iron when tight joints must be obtained.
4 Welding cast iron parts to steel.
5 Machine frames, engine blocks, cylinders, valves.
      6 Lamellar grey cast iron.
      7 Malleable cast iron.
      8 Nodular cast irons.
9 Phosphorous cast iron not exceeding 0.20% P.
  • Welding Procedure
    • 1 Can be used in all positions except vertical down.
2 Localised heat input into the casting should be avoided as much as possible.
3 Use the minimum amperage that is recommended where possible.
4 Depositing short beads and applying cooling - internals are recommended.
5 It is advisable to peen when the bead is still hot.
6 It is essential to clean the groove and its surroundings thoroughly.
