Features

The use of flashback arrestors at both torch and regulator ends completely eliminates the risk to personnel and property caused by fire and explosions.

Typical Application

  1. For oxygen and fuel gas lines and where compressed oxygen is used in conjunction with a fuel gas.
  2. Fitted between the torch and hose and to the regulator at the outlet.
  3. Hi-Flow flashback arrestors are used in applications requiring a superior flow rate.
  4. Applications include reticulated pipeline systems, heating processes and large cutting processes eg profile cutting.

Technical Information

  • A flashback arrestor is a device designed to prevent the back flow of gas, and also to quench the flame front associated with a flashback thereby preventing the flashback reaching the regulator, pipeline or cylinder.
  • Flashback arrestors have non-return valve incorporated within the system so as not to allow the mixing of oxygen and fuel gas mixing within one hose.
  • The use of flashback arrestors is recommended in Australian Standard AS4839-2001. The safe use of portable and mobile oxy-fuel gas systems for welding, cutting, heating and allied processes and Welding Technology Institute of Australia technical note 7.
  • 3DSS flashback arrestors comply with AS 4603-1999. Flashback arrestors - safety devices for use with fuel gasses and oxygen or compressed air.
