HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
3D Safety Services offers public and private group and individual training for Provide First Aid including CPR. We run public courses in Newcastle, NSW and private courses across NSW.
This course includes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This course applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response, including CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009) are renewed every 12 months. Please also refer to specific industry standards and guidelines.
Course Content
– Legislation including relevant Codes of Practice
– Basic Life Support – DRS ABCD
– Resuscitation – including practical experience with adult and child manikins
– Defibrillation – including practical experience with training AEDs
– First Aid Management for burns, anaphylaxis, bleeding and other common injuries
Course Elements
The essential outcomes for the course as prescribed in the unit of competency requirements are:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion students will receive a Wallet Card and Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework for the following units of competency:
HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
Course Duration
Course duration is 1 day (approx. 8 hours total) – 7:30am-3:30pm.
Course Venue: Newcastle, NSW
Training and assessment is conducted at the 3D Safety Training Centre in Cameron Park or training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there have suitable infrastructure and training facilities.

The total cost is $235 per person.
Prerequisites
Nil
Entry Requirements
Students are required to have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of performing CPR and providing first aid.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Language, literacy and numeracy skills are required at a level to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documents and procedures and perform basic calculations.
Students are required to pass an LLN assessment.
Delivery Method
THEORY – including presentations, demonstrations and group discussions
PRACTICAL – using equipment in simulated or real workplace environment
Assessment Process
Students are assessed based on short answer written assessment, as well as observation of practical skills.
Student Must Provide
- Student Identification (e.g. driver’s license, student ID card, passport, etc.)
- It is recommended that students wear the following PPE supplied by themselves: hard hats, long clothing(jeans acceptable), steel cap boots, and gloves.
